Market Bell
Ringing a cowbell at the beginning and end of each farmers market day is a tradition begun by Louise Estabrook when she was manager. Not only is this great fun (usually accompanied by cheers from the vendors), but it serves a practical purpose as well. Vendors are not permitted to sell products before or after the bell. This creates a level playing field for all vendors. It is also a safety feature since customers will not be on the market avenue while vehicles and products are being moved about.
