UN-WHO Deems Glyphosate Probable Carcinogen
One of the world’s most popular weed-killers — and the most widely used kind in the U.S. sold as RoundUp — has been labeled a probable carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
The decision was made by IARC, the France-based cancer research arm of the World Health Organization, which considered the status of five insect and weed killers including glyphosate, which is used globally in industrial farming.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which makes its own determinations, said it would consider the French agency’s evaluation.

Mouth-watering spring salad. Enjoy with roasted chicken or grilled fish.
Ingredients
1 lb mixed baby braising greens (Harvest Table Farm)
1 Tbsp toasted sesame
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 cloves garlic, sliced thin
1 Tbsp Meyer lemon vinegar (Home Appertit)
1 cayenne pepper, sliced
Instructions
Add 1 Tbsp of olive oil to a cast iron skillet. When the oil gets hot, toast the garlic in it.
After you can smell the garlic, add the greens until they pop and make a mess of the kitchen.
Add the Meyer lemon vinegar to get greens to wilt
Add cayenne pepper for some zip

For most of us, there’s no better place to buy fruits and vegetables than at a farmers’ market. Period. The talk about high prices isn’t entirely unjustified, but it can be countered, and I’ll get to that in a minute.
What’s inarguable is that farmers’ markets offer food of superior quality, help support smaller-scale farmers in an environment that’s more and more difficult for anyone not doing industrial-scale agriculture, and increase the amount of local food available to shoppers. Designed to benefit local children ages 5-12, the POP Club draws from nutrition, culinary arts, agriculture and science to encourage awareness of healthy food choices. WASHINGTON, April 14, 2015 – Beech-Nut Nutrition, an Amsterdam, N.Y. establishment, is recalling approximately 1,920 pounds of baby food products that may be contaminated with small pieces of glass, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

½ cup thinly sliced dried Mission figs
2 Tbs. olive oil, divided
2 cups trimmed radishes, halved or quartered (10 oz.)

4 cups radish greens
